There are many forms of entertainment. Books, movies,
games, series… these probably are the most consumed media products nowadays. Actually,
thanks to the technology advance, the last three are more popular, being
available in the internet, television, cellphones and other gadgets.
The books are still very popular, digital or
physical, because they are already present in our societies since the beginning
of the civilization. The word is still the most powerful way to express our
ideas and stories.
“A picture is worth a thousand words”, you may
be thinking. And I must agree with you. Many times, images are better to
explain and show things than texts. For example, it’s better to see a picture
of a beautiful landscape, than read its description. Or a person expression:
see the face of that person may be more revealing than a text speaking of it.
But what if we could join the best of both “worlds”?
What if we unite the power of the word, with the magic of the pictures? These
two “languages”, together, are able to deliver a unique type of story. For me, the
best word for this “amalgam” is: comic.
Many people think that comic books are “child
stuff” or just for “nerds”. Nevertheless, they are wrong. As any entertainment
product, there are many types of comics. Just as books, movies, games, series… You
just have to find what is yours.
Here, all the comics will have something
special. Something that makes them representative among the others. Something
that makes them as good as any movie, book or series, or perhaps even better. Something
that makes their stories epic.
I hope you find these comics interesting. And,
mostly, I hope you have some fun reading them, if you try to. Because that’s the
most important thing about comics. Just as books, movies, games, series…
